A lonelyTWAT In New Zealand; All Geared Up But Not Quite Feeling Ready To Go…

After a whirlwind 1st 6 weeks in New Zealand, taking time out to take everything in. From the beautiful shores of Raglan to Port Waikato, Big Bay and the stunning Coromandel, it has been a lovely start to our new lives here.

Port Waikato

Coromandel

I’ve had moments of utter stillness and quiet. Time to reflect, adjust and reset.

Big Bay

There’s just one thing missing. Well not missing but not being pushed as hard as it should.

See since buying Bobby after all the anxieties of needing to get another bike, well with work need doing that I’m not sure how to do and blah blah blah. Simple put I’ve just been making excuses not to ride and have been put off by not pushing to get the work done i.e. pitted forks with leaky seals. Also not pushing myself enough to meet people to get it done, in true ‘lonelyTWAT’ style (being all weird and introverted).

Yet I’ve still been out and bought a new tank bag and net with a voucher I got for Christmas. Bought oil, oil filter and air filter to fit myself which I’m halfway through finishing. Plus other little jobs I’ve completed. I’ve also been bought gifts such as cleaning kit and a new tent. BUT I should have done it all by now and be on the road. I’m a lonelyTWAT in New Zealand all geared up but not quite feeling ready to go.

I’ve seemed to have lost my mojo a little bit. Which is crazy as we’ve driven down the most awesome roads (ideal for biking) and I have so much I want to share with you all. Not to mention the WRWR and other events and plans I’ve got in the pipeline for this year.

The Road Into Raglan

So am I loosing my mind or what? Anyone else either felt like this with their bike?

But I’ve decided not to give myself too much of a hard time about it, (the same with my huge weight gain). I suppose that’s what happens when you’ve not been working for 2 months and move to the other side of the world!

Instead a plan of action: Starting with getting someone to have a proper look at the bike and let me know what exactly needs doing and the costs. Step two will of course to get Bobby on the road. Step three, well just take life by the handlebars and bimble.

See I have to admit I can be a nightmare when it comes to self-motivation. Whereas other times I’ve got so much ambition, drive and energy I almost burn myself out as I try to make the most of having it and cram everything in at once.

But watch this space, Bobby and I will try to be on the road very soon. I have so much to share with you. Thank you for following and make sure you turn on notifications to see future blogs x
