I recently went to my 1st motorbike rally. The camping area was pretty much a bramble field which they had only cut the day before!
It was going to be interesting pitching my tent here. But I had bought a festival tent from Mountain Warehouse which was perfect to fit into the smallest area known to man that I had left to pitch up in. But surprisingly the tent was really easy to set up and I was quite content considering the small price I paid for it. It also fitted neatly onto the back of the bike (plus it matched the colour of my bike, bonus).
However the pitching of the tent was the least of my worries! As the field had been freshly cut and been full of bushes, the bugs were out in full force. Now I’m not just talking about one or two bugs here, I mean the place was swarming!
Luckily for me I used to be an Avon rep. Funny actually as its how I met my husband Rob, doing Avon for his mum when she lived on her barge boat. Anyway, lucky how I hear you ask? Lucky because I knew the best damn insect repellent on the market which isn’t actually advertised as an insect repellent at all. Lucky also because I had stocked up on several bottles of it ready to take with me when we go to New Zealand because I know how good it is. This product being Avon Skin So Soft.
Not only great for insect repellent but being a dry oil moisturiser, means it would be a handy after sun as well. Ace, two in one saving space for when we travel. I also use it to lightly spray the inside of my tent to help ward off any unwanted guests before bedding down.
Thankfully for me I didn’t suffer any bites at the rally and my trusty spray done its job. Although I can’t say the same for others, who literally got eaten alive! My friend Josie being one of them. (Sorry for the reminder bird!)
